Although it is 15 years since I lived in Norway I would always present myself as a Norwegian.  It is easy to feel distanced from the culture and home when one has lived away from it for so long.  I suppose it is moments like this, when so many people have died due to a "mad man" that I feel strongly effected by my nationality.  Breivik attacked exactly the things I love about Norway; it's liberal attitude and tolerance and the freedom to live without fear of physical aggression and fear of violence. I have not personally been effected by the killings in the way that I know someone that lost their life but I feel truly sorry for anyone who has lost a loved one and I am truly saddened that this infringement has been made on the core of the Norwegian society.
