David Lammy is the MP for Tottenham and became known to most of us in the UK when the riots kicked off in Tottenham last year.
David Lammy grew up in Tottenham, one of five, raised by a single mother. Having been the first Black Briton to study law at Harvard University, he has now also been the MP for Tottenham since 2000, a job he took on at the age of 27. Makes me wonder - what did I do at the age of 27 - not much I suspect...
The riots that started in Tottenham last summer could have started anywhere in the UK, it was just unfortunate for David Lammy and Tottenham that it became the focus of attention. David Lammy seems like a down to earth, smart and decent man - a man I am happy to know is representing the council next to where I live.
